Wanakah Country Club first opened for play in 1899. The course was designed by Donald Ross and later rennovated by Willie Watson. Bob Cupp and Jay Morrish redesigned this course in 1983.
This is an old traditional course. The small greens are loaded with subtle breaks, and the many bottleneck shape fairways are tree lined. Water hazards (two man-made ponds and a creek) come into play on many holes, and the terrain is hilly. The signature hole is #15, a 206-yard, par 3, requiring a tee shot over water to a small green that is well bunkered.
Par for the course is 72. From the back tees the course plays to 6,821 yards. From the forward tees the course measures 5,726 yards. The longest hole on the course is # 14, a par-5 that plays to 563 yards. The shortest hole on the course is # 12, a par-3 that plays to 174 yards from the back tees.
Watch out for # 5, a 535 yard par-5 challenge and the #1 handicap hole on the course. The easiest hole at Wanakah is # 12, the short 174 yard par-3.

The members and staff were unfriendly. My host was embarrassed.
